Patrick Doyle

About a month ago now, we posted a audio clip of Gayle King, on her radio show of the same name, raving about our #newpizza and Pizza Turnaround. Well it turns out she was so impressed that she invited our CEO, Patrick Doyle, to come talk to her about it all. Listen to the entire segment at the Oprah Radio site.

AT LAST!! I’m an old person who began eating pizza 70 years ago and over the years I’ve become more and more disillusioned with pizza. But finally – Domino’s asked us what was good and bad about the product, and I’m now back to close to the original thin crust, tasty pizza!! Thank you-thank you-thank you! You/ve made an old lady very happy!! The taste is back!!!

    • oz smith | on May 18, 2010

WHAT WAS BAD ABOUT THE PRODUCT???????? ITS COVERED IN GREEN PHLEGM!!!!!!!

  2. Courtney | on March 18, 2010

My husband and I have been getting the new pizza once a week. We love it so much.. but we wish you offered more coupons! Pizza Hut and Papa Johns have large, any toppings for $10 and they’ve had that deal for awhile now. Wish Dominos did the same.. We’d eat even more (which could be a bad thing)!!!

  3. adam roshia | on March 19, 2010

i tried it. and i was not impressed my mushrooms were old and me and my girlfriend both got sick. i emailed the dominos i ordered from cause i ordered on line and never even got a call back. same old dominos to me. thats why you lost my bussiness in the first place. why pay more when i can get the same thing at little cesars for five bucks

Oh wait–I just got it. “Pizza Turnaround”, as in “turned all the way around” and continued to suck. Seriously, which 3 of 5 people thought Domino’s was better than Papa John’s? Must have been Mr. Domino, his son Domino Jr. and his grandson Domino III???

  5. patricia knight | on March 22, 2010

we love the new pizza, thank you for careing.

  6. Toni | on March 22, 2010

Ours was lousy, and when i called and told the local manager I was told “Yea, we know…it’s actually worse now” Funny when they know how bad it is!

  7. Jim | on March 31, 2010

I love pizza. Used to love Domino’s. Tried one the other night after years of not having one. Wasn’t that great. Try a different sausage. That old stuff has been used for years. Now that taste like frozen pizza sausage. Why can’t you guys do it like a real Italian place. You could I’m sure, unless your just doing what your doing to keep the price down. I had an extravaganza and a half pepperoni and half sausage. One regular crust and one thin. Thin was good regular was better than before. Sauce is too sweet now. Plus you got to tell your people to learn how to cut the thing. When I got home we couldn’t tear it apart. I’m going to try one more tonight. The bar b que chicken.
We’ll see, but so far, not good. Get hold of me someone from Dominos. I’ll tell you what is good

I got a Dominopizza last week in Bellingham, MA It was the worst pizza I ever had from Domino, the Garlic was so strong the I could only eat one piece, then I had to put the rrest of the pizza and the box outside, the whole house smelled like garlic.

I think the new domino’s recipe is terrible. I would never eat it again, and I threw most of it away. It tastes like a bunch of salt and artificial garlic flavors…Probably geared toward all the fat, salt craving people who wouldn’t recognize food that didn’t come from a freeze dried pre-mixed packet loaded with msg.

  11. Gayle Smith | on April 24, 2010

I tried new pizza, still not good. Sauce is horrible.

  12. Not so impressed | on May 1, 2010

Hi there.. I REALLY hope someone is reading this. I’m here to give you some constructive criticism. I absolutely DISliked your new pizza. I got SO excited for something tasty and delicious.
But the sauce was terrible. I, being one of the few, LOVED your old sauce. The new sauce was less sweet but lacked a lot of the basil and oregano you mentioned you added when you changed the recipe.
Also, your CRUST was TERRRIBLE. I like thick fluffy crusts that I can bite into. The new crust was dry and crunchy (not crunchy in a good way).
And your cheese was pretty much the same.
I put my diet aside for a night to try your new pizza – I wasn’t happy. I could have eaten Papa John’s which never fails. But since I was a loyal customer, I went with Dominos. Don’t think I’ll make that mistake again…

  13. Isaiah | on May 16, 2010

What is the big desk of these so called new pizza isn’t dominos. Dominos

  14. oz smith | on May 18, 2010

OH YES WE DID……..blow our nose on your pizza

  15. ronni | on June 4, 2010

Love love love the new pizza!!! The crust is awesome & the cheese rocks. Sitting here eating it right now!!

  16. June Davies | on June 26, 2010

Had the new Domino’s Pizza last night for first time. The sauce had no taste. We ordered green peppers. I might have found two little slivers on it. Not enough sauce and too much cheese. Didn’t order extra either. Wasn’t very impressed. Probably won’t order again. Dijorno’s from the box and heat yourself is better.

  17. More of the same crap | on June 28, 2010

Notice how when someone says they hate your product you in no way respond dominos
well let me just tell you that your new pizza is pure garbage. never have I tasted something so vile and overpowering in it’s trashy taste. Well at least it’s better than your old pizza which was so truly unbelievably bad that it defied space and time itself.

  18. Dave C. | on July 5, 2010

I haven’t touched a Dominos in years; was a lot like cardboard covered with glue and goo, The new pizza is a huge improvement, but I doubt any scientific survey would find the stuff I recently had better than Papa John’s. Skimpy portions of lower quallity ingredients won’t cut it. As soon as all the hoopla over your allegedly improved pizza is over, count on a sales crash; I haven’t been back, nor have others I know who’ve tried it. Can’t wait to see the next bogus ad campaign to get people to buy your substandard product after this recent work of fiction. And if you ever get your pizza edible, don’t ruin it by coating the bottom with cornmeal; its like eating at the beach in a windstorm….quite gritty

  19. Dan | on July 9, 2010

I have to say that it was better. I live in NY and pizza is not a novelty, so I would not say it is better than regular NY style pizza. However, it was better and more flavorful than your past pizza.

  20. Bill M. | on July 10, 2010

The new pizza is better tasting except for one thing – too salty. I can tolerate two slices from a 14-inch pizza, but I usually eat six. I would eat Domino’s all the time if they reduced the saltiness. Until then, I’ll pay more for other establishments’ pizzas.

  21. Jesse | on July 20, 2010

if you guys really listen to your costumers make the old recipe available I use to be one of your best customers your new pizza is horrible

  22. Kevin | on August 22, 2010

I cant stand the new pizza. I’ll never eat domino’s again. It tastes way to salty and the pizza was hard as a brick.

  23. | on September 16, 2010

Love reading about the new pizza.

  24. | on September 16, 2010

    Such a great pizza.

  25. Boopsie | on September 17, 2010

    Okay?

My friend is allergic to dairy; we both love pizza. Unfortunately, adding MORE dairy products is not going to get either of us to buy it… especially since Domino’s took out their last dairy-free crust.

  26. Martijn | on October 12, 2010

Is your new pizza available in Europe? Because I wasn’t a fan of the old one, but I’d like to give you another shot.

  27. jorge q | on November 25, 2010

This is the second time I bought the new pizza and it sucks. The pizza has dry spots! No cheese or sauce. I did not take a picture the first time. But this time I did.

    • sam | on July 8, 2011

they usually fix those dry spots with a little harkup or femuda cheese.

  28. jay | on December 4, 2010

I don’t know if from the summer to now it was changed again, but I think the pizzas great I actually love the flavors on the crust and it was the fluffy crust I love about dominos

  30. Patricia Whisenton | on February 25, 2011

Please, Put another Papa Johns closer to Green Valley Ranch, Denver, Colorado. This Dominos is not getting it here. IF it’s not the taste of the pizza the prices are being excalated up from your mistake of preparing and baking. 3 times is enough for me and all I know in the Green Valley Ranch, Denver, Colorado area.

  31. Patricia Whisenton | on February 25, 2011

And, Mr. Patrick has the nerve to be sitting uo there grinning, the way that these People (employees are distributing his IDEA!!!!!! HA! HA!

  32. K Songer | on March 3, 2011

50 years making pizza and over 9000 stores selling them and Dominos is just learning how to make pizza? Does that make sense? They need to keep working on it I had some last night and it was awful. I will not be trying it agian.

  33. iphone 5 | on March 4, 2011

When is actually the actual new iphone 5 ( or successor of the iPhone 4) most likely to be released? I personally lost my personal apple iphone a little ago, and I was wondering if I must obtain the apple iphone 4 now or wait for the iPhone five… Also, I been told the actual i phone 4’s screen shatters simply in case you fall it w/o an incident. Can be that correct?

  34. Fritz | on May 4, 2011

    Hi there.

Congratulations on the effort to listen you your consumers.
Domino’s is the only fast food my girlfriend would eat. She’s from NY.
    Now we’re living in England.

I’m wondering: Is the new pizza being implemented here as well?

    Thanks
    Fritz

  35. m ellis | on May 15, 2011

why do you cut the thin crust into squares? hate having to call every time and ask for regular slice

  36. Lucius Junius Brutus | on May 23, 2011

The reason Dmoinos’ pizza continues to be bad is because it is a “FRANCHISE”. The cooks and owners are not ALLOWED to change the pizza ingredients. If Jesus Christ worked in a Dominos and tried to make a better pizza, he’d be fired or maybe arrested.
If you want good pizza, you have to get it made fresh. In NYC everyone who opens a shop makes pizza pretty much the same way-Arabs, Italians, Latinos and Irish. It’s not hard but a franchise will NEVER allow an individual store to make a better product by buying outside ingredients. Forget Dominos. Find a real pizzerrea or learn to cook.

  37. Myname | on May 23, 2011

Better than papa johns? Not now, in the past, or probably ever. Only slightly better than supermarket frozen, except Digiornos. Not very promising when a premium frozen pizza is better.

  38. Stacy | on May 31, 2011

I don’t know if I like it. I got a nasty burnt pizza. I am not going back to get another waste of my money!!

    Pizza

  40. Paul G | on June 13, 2011

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am today with my Domino’s in Trinity FL. Almopst two hours later no pizza and when I called Kaitlyn, the manager said you can’t trust the delivery times on the computer. Then why order online? Also, asked to speak with an owner and was told that,” I can’t speak with him soI don’t think you are goingto speak to him.” I will post until I hear back, that is for sure. You are only as good as your last experience and today you stink!!!

  41. Barney Frank | on June 13, 2011

It is much better than frozen. Bodily fluids and excrement tend to lose their flavor after freezing. YEAH Dominoes! The sodomite’s favorite pie.

  42. Tahlia | on August 24, 2011

Im a frequent buyer of dominos pizza. I loved the new recipe. However today, 8/24/2011 i ordered a pizza and to my surprise they changed the bbq sauce on the pizza i loved so much! Now I hate it! it was chalky and disgusting. The 3 pizzas i bought are now sitting in the garbage! What a waste! It ruined the whole pizza it was horrible!!! I don’t think I’ll be ordering again. Change the bbq sauce back!!!!!!

  43. Florence Sanchez | on September 3, 2011

All this advertising and it does Dominos no good. I just ordered for the first time in years to give Dominos a second chance. Well, it didn’t go good. As a matter of fact, I called back and cancelled my order. First the deliverer comes with only one of my pizzas and told me he forgot my other pizza and they were putting it in the oven. Then he said for me to pay him the full amount. I told him “NO”, that I wasn’t going to pay and he could take the other one and deliver two pizzas and to make sure they were hot. So I then called the facility at (310) 533-1174 (location Carson Street/Western) and tried to inform them, of course they put me on hold, then hung up. I then called back again and told him he put me on hold but it hung up, then i tried to explain the situation, he tells me to hold on then puts his hand over the phone and starts telling another worker that there is a lady complaining something about hanging up so he gets back on the phone to tell me how I could help him and said he could cancel my order that I don’t want their pizza and I was going to order from “PIZZAHUT”. I get a call back in 5 mins were Dominos is telling me they will give me the pizza for free and they were cooking it. I told them NO again, the gentleman said he was giving it to me for free I replied, “Even it you gave me more for free I don’t want your pizza and I was going to give your company another opportunity and you guys “F” up. So I will never order from Dominos again!

    Artisan Pizza for just $7.99
Nice try Domino’s… 8 squares of bread with little to no toppings. We ordered 1 each of the 3 new Artisan Pizzas last Saturday and at least 1 corner square of each pizza had no toppings and 2-3 other squares you could take a big bite without a single piece of topping. That’s $1 per square for a piece of baked bread and about $0.30 worth of toppings… One and Done! What a rip-off!!!
